Celebrate Black History Month with a donation earning up to 10 United miles per dollar spent

This Black History Month, United Airlines, Chase and Visa are partnering to help support several non-profits dedicated to supporting human and civil rights policies for racial justice and educational opportunities for Black students.

Customers with select cobranded United credit cards can earn up to 10 MileagePlus miles per dollar spent on eligible donations through March 31 (up to $1,500 spent). According to United, you’ll earn 5 miles per $1 on the first $500 donated and 10 miles per $1 on the next $1,000 in donations.

TPG values MileagePlus miles at 1.45 cents each, meaning you’re getting a rebate of approximately 7-14% on your donation.

First and foremost, this is an excellent way to support social justice, but also a good opportunity to earn some United miles while helping a notable cause.

There are three charities where donations can earn you bonus miles during this promotion. You can begin your donation via United’s website or directly with the charities below:

To be eligible for this opportunity, you must be the primary cardholder on any of the following United cobranded credit cards:

United suggests donating directly to a charity’s parent organization to guarantee you’ll receive bonus miles — donations to individual chapters may not trigger the bonus. Also, note that you’ll need to donate by March 31. Although you can donate as much as you prefer, you’ll only be awarded bonus miles on donations up to $1,500. The bonus miles may take up to eight weeks to post to your account.

If you have more than one of the cards listed above, you can max out the promotion on each card. For example, you can make a $1,500 donation with your United Club Infinite Card and another $1,500 donation with your United Business Card to receive up to 12,500 miles per donation, or a total of 25,000 miles.
